Having two daughters of his own, Chris decides to do some research into what he may be in for when his girls get a little older. He begins with African-American hairstyling history, tours local salons, visits a science lab, interviews stylists and explores hairstyling contests. But there is much more to this documentary that I found particularly interesting as a person living with Alopecia: the process and business of procuring raw hair to be used in wigs and weaves. Chris travels all the way to India to see for himself where the hair comes from and then follows the hair trail back to L.A. to meet with the incredibly wealthy King of the Hair Weave Industry. It’s fascinating stuff and you will laugh at various times throughout the movie thanks to Chris’ comedic style, but you will also learn things about sourcing hair that you would have never guessed.
